We finished the green screen and I was thrilled with our work and excited for what is to come when the students fill the room in August. So that's it, ready to go, summer here we come!
Not. Yet.
Our principal loved the way the green wall changed the room so much he decided we had to paint the rest of the room. So five trips to Lowe's and three days later we had completely transformed our Makerspace into a creative outlet for the students.
It was truly a labor of love as none of us are professional painters. The addition of the colors bleeding into each other was accidental at first but our own Mr. Lee took the the time and attention to detail we needed to bring a bit of pizzazz to the room. The room feels more complete now.
Over the next month our janitorial crew will refinish the wood floor and do some touchups near the ceiling with a taller ladder and come August 3rd, when the JB Bear boot camp for incoming 6th graders is held we will have a magical place to introduce them to! Can't wait!

Green Screen
Sometimes wishes do come true!

I put out a call for donations about a month ago, to buy paint and supplies to create a green screen in our Makerspace at JBMS. And several amazing people answered my call! Thanks Ayelette, Tom and Chris!
We got enough money to buy two gallons of limolicous Sherwin-Williams flat interior paint from Lowe's and our supplies! I figured out this color would work well from other bloggers who'd created their own green screens on a DIY budget.
We wrapped up the school year and then set to painting. First we had to clean and prep the walls. I had help from staff, teachers, parents and students! It was pretty cool. And another day we did the actual painting. The results speak for themselves:

We have a real, working green screen! The students who helped downloaded some apps and within moments, were taking photos and putting themselves into scenes. And yes, it took us adults just a little bit longer but we got the hang of it too!
This wall is just part of the Makerspace we are building for our students. I can't wait to see what they do with it when they come back to school in August. I'll keep you all posted!
